Arshad Mughal Member profile Arshad Mughal
Arshad Mughal is one of England’s oldest international cricketers. He is still playing for his country at the age of 48! An age at which modern cricketers would have thrown in the towel and settled for T.V.

In 2003 a fellow cricketer invited Arshad to the England indoor masters trials. At 43 Arshad thought he was a bit too old to play for England, to his surprise, he was selected for the England Squad. He says "There was no way I would have missed this fabulous opportunity to play for my country and to prove that I was still capable".

Arshad faced opposition sportsmen from Australia, South Africa, Sri lanka, New Zealand and his own Countrymen. Arshad played so well that he was named as the runner-up to The-Man-of-the series in the 2003 world cup, and could rightly call himself the second best indoor masters cricketer in the world.

Arshad currently plays & enjoys his outdoor cricket for Old Brentwood Cricket Club, and is as committed to outdoor cricket as he is to indoor cricket.

Arshad says "I have always been a keen cricketer. I started playing at the tender age of ten when I was at school in Uganda where I was born. When my family came to England in 1972, I carried on playing initially for local school and than for local clubs, and here I am now as keen as ever playing for Old Brentwood.

Returning All-Rounder after three years away. Was tempted back looking for a change in fortune of the club in hopefully persuading the kids of Brentwood School to come to us and secure the clubs future for the next generation
